BAND BIO
CHUCK SILVERSTEIN and HIS FERTILE IMAGINATION is a band that simply can’t be squeezed into a pigeon-hole. Their music is best described as feel-good, funny and quirky. Unable to define themselves with conventional musical genres, they created a genre of their own.
“ QUASI PSEUDO PSYCHO RAGTIME AMERICANA FOLK RAP "
(with a bit of dime-store philosophy in every song)
THE MUSIC
Silverstein's original compositions draw from several traditions including swing, folk, old time, blues, ragtime, singer songwriter and jazz. The songs are the result of the band’s unique sensibilities and yes, there is indeed a bit of “dime-store philosophy” in every song.
Chuck describes his songs as “rants, rambles and pontifications”. The lyrics are insightful, humorous, idiosyncratic and offbeat. Above all, they hold the promise of fun for any audience!
The band also plays a select assortment of cover tunes--all crowd pleasers.
THE BAND
DAVE ICE on standup bass, bass guitar and vocals. “Ice” is a veteran of the New York music scene who has been gigging since 1983. He is quite simply one of the area’s most in-demand bass players ( Johnny Mac Band, Hi-Lo Jacks and Tiberius).
MIKE RINGLE on drums and percussion. A true student of percussion, Mike cut his teeth playing with wedding bands and is most well known as the house drummer at The Homestead in Oyster Bay, NY. Mike is a true showman and plays with a flair rarely seen in modern day drummers.
CHUCK SILVERSTEIN on guitar and vocals. Chuck had an extensive career in music back in his twenties when he was based in North Carolina. His band played all over the south, toured the Midwest (twice) and toured the state of Florida twice as well. His appearances include numerous colleges, clubs, the Kent State Folk Festival, Wheatland Festival, Brandywine Music Festival, The Down Home festival and more.
